This year I had planned to post on this blog every month but I failed to write one for August. I enjoy writing up these posts but in terms of priority this blog is pretty low on my list. The past couple months have been pretty low-energy for me and as a result this blog got put on the backburner.
I’ve found that life comes in waves of “highs” and “lows”.
I have only been working on one project this month so I’m going to keep this post short and sweet.
Near-eye Display Progress
I have a near-eye display design that I’m working on so I purchased a microdisplay to test it out. The microdisplay I purchased doesn’t have an HDMI connection so I figured I would just solder one myself. To do that I’m following Mañolo’s tutorial to wire an AV2HDMI adapter to a FLCOS so that it has an HDMI input.
Earlier this month I tried my hand at making a Firefox extension.
Firefox Extension
I found myself in need of a Firefox extension that redirects YouTube Shorts to their respective “watch” pages.
From "https://www.youtube.com/shorts/<video-id>" to "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<video-id>".
I decided to tackle this issue myself rather than searching for an existing extension. This gave me an opportunity to learn about Firefox extensions and how they’re created. What I ended up with definitely isn’t my best work but it does the job and I now have a much better understanding of how Firefox extensions are structured and what permissions they require.
I haven’t had the time to write a full post so I figured I would briefly write about the projects I’m currently working on. I’ll discuss these projects in more depth in the future. There are two main projects that I’m working on, one is an RFID cat bowl and the other is a voxel game.
RFID Cat Bowl
I started the RFID cat bowl project to help my cats lose some weight.
To preface this entire post, if you don’t have any issues managing your time with various forms of social media then you may not find this specific form of fasting very beneficial. That said, you might find another part of your life that could be improved by using intermittent fasting in this way.
What is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent fasting is an eating plan that switches between fasting and eating on a regular schedule
In this post I’ll discuss the results for my strength carryover test.
It should go without saying, if you want to improve your Back Squat, Bench Press, or Deadlift then you’re better off practicing those movements directly. Since my goal isn’t to increase my Powerlifting numbers I’m happy to see any carryover.
Strength Program
These are the strength and mobility movements I tested carryover for. I performed one workout at the start of each week.
I was hoping to post about this project once it’s completed but I wasn’t able to finish it this month. I would like to be writing here at least once a month this year and I’m already pushing it since it’s the last day of February. So I’ll just explain the project and my work so far!
A Bluetooth Crane Scale?
I originally started this project as a means of tracking progress with the One Arm Chin Up.
I’m starting the year off with a few tests for my current strength training program.
My Current Strength Training
Every movement marked with (*) is performed for 1 set of 60 seconds to failure using accommodating resistance. Mobility movements, marked with (~), are performed for 2 sets of 30 seconds using contract-relax PNF stretching. The Kettlebell Swing is used exclusively for cardio, I perform 1 heavy set for 60s with the goal of reaching between 90 and 100 percent of my max heartrate (Zone 5).
My previous blog was trouble to work with so I quickly tossed this one together! There are a lot of things I would like to share. I have a couple coding projects in the works and some health and fitness ideas I want to cover. I’ll share more in the future.
